outdoor Living Inspired by the South of France

RELAXED ELEGANCE THROUGH OUTDOOR DECOR

Summer is all about relaxed and breezy elegance, and what better way to do this than to conjure up the dreamy and balmy Côte dAzur? The style that derives from this region encapsulates something I like to call relaxed elegance. This look is inspired by the dichotomy in style that the French seem to get so effortlessly right, both in fashion and interior and exterior design. It’s that perfect mix of both relaxed decor and dashes of more formal and elegant elements.

METAL FURNITURE

Metal outdoor furniture is always a classic, especially when paired with linen seat cushions. Much like wearing linen suiting in the summer, it lends that relaxed yet polished feel to your outdoor decor.

SCULPTURAL PIECES AND SATURATED HUES

Sculptural and geometric pieces like the smooth travertine spheres and cement planters pair nicely with some of the more informal decor.

Saturated hues like an emerald green velvet-textured outdoor throw pillow or one in a painterly stripe can add that requisite coastal vibe without being overly nautical in theme.

Côte D’Azur

RATTAN, TERRACOTTA AND TEAK

Natural elements like earthy terracotta, teak, and rattan lend to the look. A striking rattan piece, like the wingback chair, can have a vintage quality. Pieces like this can really set the tone and are a fabulous focal point. Plant the terracotta planters with fragrant lavender, rich succulents like stonecrop, and blousy hydrangeas.

It’s all about drawing inspiration from the warm and sunny tones of the coast, whether through earthy terracotta, warm rattan and teak, or mustard-hued glassware..
