Our Process

STEP ONE

INQUIRE WITH US

Send an email to hello@dearalia.com or use the inquiry form — I’d love to learn more about your project and confirm whether this service is the right fit for your space and needs.

STEP two

SEND US PHOTOS AND MEASUREMENTS & FILL OUT QUESTIONNAIRE

Once you’ve purchased the Conceptual One Room Design service and signed the agreement, the design process begins. You’ll receive a tailored questionnaire where you can share your goals, style preferences, and vision. You’ll also upload room photos, basic measurements, and any inspiration you'd like me to see. These details help me shape a design that truly reflects you.

STEP three

LET US DO OUR MAGIC
AND WAIT FOR THE DESIGN

From there, I’ll develop a complete conceptual plan for your space — thoughtfully designed, visually layered, and completely tailored to your needs. You’ll receive the first concept to review, followed by one round of revisions to fine-tune the direction before your final package is delivered.

FAQs

  • Virtual design is a remote service where I help you create a cohesive, beautifully designed space—no matter where you're located. You’ll receive a tailored concept with a moodboard, layout ideas, and styling guidance that you can implement on your own timeline.

  • This works best if you want a high-level, professionally designed space and are comfortable taking the final steps—like purchasing and coordinating with local trades—on your own. If you’re looking for a design vision you can run with, without needing hand-holding, this is a great fit.

    • A moodboard with colour palette and material suggestions

    • A conceptual layout (floor plan)

    • Visual references to illustrate the look and feel

    • Optional 3D visuals (if needed)

    • Styling and material notes

    • Two rounds of revisions: one after the initial concept, and one minor edit at the end

  • I rely on the exact measurements you provide to create the layout and overall design. I’ll walk you through what to measure—but it’s your responsibility to confirm that items will fit through doors, stairwells, and in your space overall. I don’t offer installation guidance or site verification.

  • Yes—if I show a specific product in your moodboard or layout, I’ll name it so you can look it up, order a sample, or use it as a reference. This isn’t a sourcing service, so I don’t include clickable links or a full shopping list. Naming the product helps guide scale, tone, and material direction. It’s there to give you clarity, not limit your options. I always encourage you to try things out in your space—especially fabrics, finishes, and lighting—before making final decisions.

  • If it suits the space, I may include general visual suggestions—like where a built-in could go or what kind of fireplace surround might work. These are conceptual only and meant to spark ideas. I don’t provide dimensions, construction details, or code-compliant drawings. Any custom elements should be reviewed and executed by a qualified professional.

  • If they make sense for your space, I’ll include material suggestions—like “tumbled limestone” or “matte black tile”—to show the intended mood. These are inspirational only. You’ll need to confirm technical suitability with your contractor or supplier.

  • No. I don’t assess materials or layouts for safety, code, or technical performance. If your design involves electrical, fireplace, or plumbing changes, always consult a licensed trade before moving forward.

  • You’ll have one revision opportunity after the initial concept to refine the direction, and a final round of minor edits at the end. This is a collaborative process, and I ask that you come into it with trust and openness. My goal is always to create something you love—but design is a creative process, not a checklist.

  • All communication is handled by email. After booking, you’ll receive a welcome email with everything you need to get started—questionnaire, measurement guide, and more. I’ll check in during each stage of the process and guide you through feedback and revisions.
Please note: I don’t offer Zoom or video calls—this service is fully email-based for clarity and ease.

  • No—I don’t manage trades or coordinate the install. My job is to give you a clear, intentional plan. If something in your design requires an electrician, contractor, or cabinetmaker, you’ll need to bring them in directly.

  • Definitely—I welcome any style references or ideas you’d like me to consider. Part of my process involves filtering your inspiration through a cohesive design lens to create something thoughtful and refined—not pieced together.
